Colorado - Red Rocks, Mineral Springs and Fossils

Just west of Colorado Springs is this small but impressive park, Garden of the Gods, a favorite with local climbers.

The historic town of Manitou Springs at the foot of Pikes Peak has plenty of shops, cafes, mineral springs and street art.

Jerky - all kinds of jerky!

If I sat down, would you see me?

I had to try it, of course, and it tasted pretty good!
Farther west, the Florissant Fossil Beds National Monument is a combination of the gigantic to the minute - from  fossilized redwood stumps to tiny leaves and insects, including the only fossilized tse tse fly in the world.

Hard to imagine, but this clump is more than 20 feet across!
